CHÂTEAU AZAY-le-FERRON
The Brennes topiary garden. This chateau, typical of the Loire region, consists of four parts built at various times: the tower Frotier (end of 15th century), the wing of Humières (middle of 17th century), the house of François I (16th century), and the Breteuil house (18th century). The common areas, known as the Cingé wing, are from the 17th century. They are connected to the castle by a gallery inspired by that of the castle of Valençay and built in 1926.
Azay le Ferron

The 20Ha park in the romantic style contains a unique collection of topiaries - Yews trimmed and shaped into forms inspired by chess pieces - said to be the finest in France.

The English garden, started in 1856 was created by the swiss landscape designers the Bühler brothers, who designered so many notable French gardens in the 19th C It offers a naturalistic landscape and the impression of freedom, serenity and calm.

The French gardens are formal in style but a garden of ancient roses, an orchard and a scented garden have also been added.
